Sitting with Spirit - Shaping with Clay

Since Manfred died in 2021 I've continued to feel his presence around me. He sends me signs - a touch on my shoulder a flickering of the lights and ocassionally a fantastical light show (this happened recently on his four year anniversary).

I encourage these moments. They bring me joy and I have, over the years, sought to deepen our 'beyond-life' connection through meditation and

stillness.

The creation of Spirit Stones (small ritually made clay objects) emerged out of this stillness. One night I sat with a small piece of clay and invited Manfred to join me. With eyes closed I tuned into his energy and allowed my felt sense to guide me. In this altered state the clay became flesh, a soft yielding material through which touch could be recieved and responded too. Facial features emerged and became fixed as the clay slowly dried and lost its plasticity. I repeated the ritual again the next day and everyday after for a total of seven days.

Each stone has one or more indentations on its crown. These gold markings signify the day of making and increase in number to form a halo on the seventh stone. a symbol of our union.

The indentations hold further significance. They were made with the point of Manfred's biro, which has lain dormant for four years; held silently within the pages of an unfinished puzzle book.
