This piece honours three of my closest loved ones.

My collie dog Roxy, my mother Joan and my husband Manfred.

The ritualistic making of this piece helped me through a series of painful anniversaries. Everyday I impressed a single fallen leaf into wet clay. The blue signifies dates relating to my dog and husband (they both had blue eyes) and pale green denotes the

birthday of my mother (whose eyes were green).

Once this sacred process was complete, three totem-like faces were added, together with the initials R J & M in gold.

The piece was recently exhibited as part of 'Enshrined'. This project, designed by Lucy Malone, Museum of Ordinary People, Museum of Us (Chanel 4), comprised a series of creative grief workshops held at Moor Imagination Centre, Buckfastleigh. I facilitated one of the workshops during which, clay and medatitive techniques were used to connect with our loved ones.
